LEADERSHIP HIGHLIGHT
Dr. Naima Ricks
Dr. Naima Ricks joined After-School All-Stars 91撸影视 in 2023 to serve as the organization鈥檚 Executive Director. Dr. Ricks oversees all operations of the nonprofit that serves more than 2,000 at-risk youth at 19 schools in Newark, NJ with free, comprehensive after-school academic and enrichment programs designed to help children succeed in school and in life.
Dr. Ricks came to 91撸影视 with extensive experience in the nonprofit and higher education sector. She previously served as the Director of Programs at (NJ) SEEDS, Access and as the Director of Student Engagement at Saint Elizabeth University.听 Dr. Ricks鈥� primary goal in life is to cultivate young men and women into the leaders of tomorrow. She believes in leading by example and wholeheartedly believes education and access to adequate resources pave the way for a successful tomorrow. She is excited to join us as the Executive Director of the 91撸影视 Chapter to support the After School All Stars mission of providing comprehensive after school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life!
In addition to her professional accolades, Dr. Ricks is a dynamic and visionary leader; she has worked tirelessly to improve the community she has been a part of since the age of two. In 2013, Dr. Ricks was elected Vice President of the Roselle Board of Education, making her the youngest elected official in her hometown of Roselle, NJ. For the past six years, she has graced InsiderNJ鈥檚 African American Power List and was most recently presented the 鈥淩ole Model of the Year鈥� award by the Roselle Branch NAACP. Presently, she serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts Heart of NJ and is also a proud and active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Gamma Omicron Zeta Chapter. Dr. Ricks graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelor鈥檚 degree and earned her Master’s Degree as well as her Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University.
